Craig was 17 and Mark was 15. Chew on that.

Sorry for the lack of updates! We’ve been off the beaten trail for the past week, Blue River… Bone Creek to be exact. If you ever need to escape the stresses of your modern lifestyle, it’s a good spot to head. Just don’t expect any of your little devices to work. We were lucky enough to be introduced to Mark and Mickey (above) by our bud Murphy. This couple moved to the area from the Northwest Territories, and built some lovely little cabins for wayward travellers. Definitely two of the coolest people we’ve ever met, and some of the greatest snow and terrain around! Read more about these sweet little cabins HERE.

We were privy to some serious local knowledge on our trip (thanks Murph)… and this included access to the spots. Here is a little face we tandem surfed on the first day. Whoa, sorry not a lotta words for this one.

The group was an interesting one, with some serious dynamics that seemed rough at first, but smoothed right out by the end. Katie Hall Leah, Dave Craig, Gordon Emery, Geoff Brown, and James Murphy.

Mark and Mickey built stairs up onto the top two bunks, so you could get to your bed even if you were blind drunk. Hours were spent around this table playing card, drinking beer, smokin’ reefer and sharing stories. I’m sure we’ll all keep these memories for many years to come.

Now here are some we might like to forget. 6 consecutive days of sledding is one thing. But 6 days of riding down in the dark, dealing with overheating sleds from frozen cattracks is another. Don’t these boys just look stoked for another early morning?

This is what made it all worth while. Although I haven’t explored all the backcountry Whistler has to offer, I’m pretty sure this area is more than well on par. No to mention the fact that we were the only ones out there 95% of the time. Be safe! Thanks to all our fantastic hosts, Jesus, Murphy, Mark and Micky, Tyr, Oden, Zeus and Loki.
